Daniel Lee is an 8th grader at Robert Frost Middle School. Daniel has played the cello since he was eight years old and is a student of Ms. Youbin Jun. Daniel has played cello at Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra since he was in 4th grade and is currently a member of the Symphony orchestra. He has placed an Honorable mention at the 2018 Washington National Youth Music Competition. He won 3rd place at the YMIC Metropolitan Solo Music Festival in 2018. Daniel won 2nd place at the 49th Joseph and Goldie Feder Memorial String Competition in 2019 and at the Charleston International Music Competition in 2021. He was invited to participate 2021 Montgomery All County Orchestra. Daniel has volunteered to play the cello for seniors at nursing homes on the weekends with other members of the Young Musician Inspiring Change since 2016. He has also participated in New Life Foundation orchestra since 2020. Over the COVID-19 pandemic, Daniel has virtually taught under representative children and also conducted a virtual concert with Korean orphans. Due to the contribution, he received the Gold Medal for the President’s Volunteer Service Award twice in 2018 and 2019 and the Silver Medal in 2020. In his free time, he enjoys video games, computer coding, and baking.
